This weekend I open my studio to share with you my steel, glass and metal sculptures of the theme “Vibrant Earth.” Drop in anytime between 10:00 and 5:00, Friday through Sunday (Nov. 11-13), to discuss the work, share hugs and celebrate the season. This is truly the best time for conversation and exchanging ideas, take the measure of a piece or consider commissioning a sculpture for that special spot in your home.

To save or to savor?

E.B. White wrote, “I arise in the morning torn between a desire to save the world and a desire to savor the world. That makes it hard to plan the day.” My sentiments exactly.

Since the museum show is up and running in Grants Pass, I’ve taken the week to focus on the savory side of life. My garden is so fragrant with ripening fruits and vegetables, I could walk through blindfolded and call out most of the varieties by sniffing the air around me. My studio is organized and clean again, beckoning me to fill the work tables with developing ideas of sculptures. My home is a love-fest of cooking and playing in the last days before the demanding patterns of school begin and eldest daughter leaves soon for college. Savor. Savor.

Saving may begin again on Monday morning. Savor your weekend. And, I hope you’ll take a moment to browse the newly-posted images of my sculptures.

Vibrant Earth opens at Grants Pass Museum of Art

After over a year of prep work, a week of packing and a day of driving, I was met at the Grants Pass Museum of Art by an enthusiastic, capable crew. Many hands make light work, so the moving van was unloaded at light speed and installation began in a flurry. For those of you who couldn’t be present at last night’s opening, husband Jon has captured some highlights on the video.

Community and regional support for our museums is so vital, and Grants Pass artists, board members and residents prove more than capable of delivering a spectrum of inspired shows. As an emerging artist, I consider myself “boosted” by their commitment to showing my work. Help make the next eight weeks a win-win by stopping by the museum for my show, tasting the local organic food, and enjoying some time on the banks of the Rogue River. You’ll feel restored. I promise!
